Short gown

Make a Short gown: 2-day Class, Sundays March 15 & 22, 1-4pm

--TO BE RESHEDULED--

Gather in the Tavern and learn to make a period appropriate Short gown (ladies jacket), using a JP Ryan pattern (provided for your use during class) to add to your 18th century wardrobe. Basic sewing skills are required.

Participants should bring a sewing machine (in good working order!) with an extension cord, and the usual sewing needs: needles, thread, pins, both fabric and thread scissors, tape measure, marking pencil etc. You also need to provide the fabric for the outter shell of the short gown, preferably a period appropriate medium weight linen or cotton. Please wash and dry this fabric before class. The following purveyors are known to carry period appropriate fabrics:

Townsends , Burnley and Trowbridge, and Wm Booth, Draper. Our local Joann Fabrics also carries a limited supply of appropriate fabrics (please, no polyester).

In the class you will learn to cut and fit your short gown using a "Muslin", which will then become your lining. High quality Muslin lining will be provided. You will then cut and sew the rest of the short gown.

Materials fee: $25 for Sunday Volunteers. $40 for all others. Pre-registration required.

Register and pay the Materials Fee ON-LINE here

NOTE -Class limited to 8 participants.
