Love to read? Love history? Here is your chance to put those loves together.

DLM is forming a book club that will meet for the first time on May 18 at 7:00 pm. The club will meet every second month and will be reading books that are period appropriate, either fiction or non-fiction as the group chooses.

To get us started, the book for the first meeting will be Drums In The Forest: Decision At The Forks. This book was originally published to celebrate the bicentennial of the founding of Pittsburgh and was reissued to mark the 250th anniversary of the French and Indian War by The Library Of Western Pennsylvania History. The book is in two parts. The first part, written by Professor Alfred Proctor James, provides the historical background of the capture of Fort Duquesne by the British. The second part, written by architect Charles Stoltz, focuses on the structure of each of the forts built at the Point from 1754 to 1815 and includes blueprints and designs.

Plan to come with your suggestions of books to read in the future. The museum will provide coffee and cookies. You are on your own for other beverages.

Free Pre-registration is requested for the Book Club, on-line here - or -
